Jessica & Erik’s wedding was a celebration of love, family and friends. Their Greater Cleveland wedding day was centered on the two of them while honoring those who have played important roles in their lives.
From a beautiful Catholic ceremony at St. Paschal Babylon Catholic Church to relaxed bridal-party portraits in Chagrin Falls and an unforgettable party at LeVera Party Center, their wedding day was filled with genuine emotion, plenty of laughter, and a dance floor with very few vacancies.
In other words, it was an awesome day.
Jessica and Erik began their wedding day with a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Paschal Babylon Catholic Church. Surrounded by family and friends, they exchanged vows and officially began this next chapter of their lives together. While the ceremony itself was formal and meaningful, the moments surrounding it reflected what would become the theme of the entire day: connection.
The hugs, happy tears, smiles between family members. The excitement of friends seeing each other. The little interactions happening around the edges of the big moments. Those are the things that make wedding photography more than simply documenting what happened. They tell the story of who was there and why they mattered.
After the ceremony, the bridal party made a stop in Chagrin Falls for some relaxed photos. Rather than treating portraits like a long interruption to the celebration, we kept things fun and easygoing. The setting gave everyone a chance to relax, enjoy each other's company, and create some great photographs along the way. And that's really the goal: portraits that feel like the people in them.
There was plenty of personality, laughter and interaction between Jessica, Erik and their bridal party. The result was a collection of photographs that feel less like a formal photo session and more like a group of friends having a really good time together on an important day. Then it was time to celebrate.
The reception at LeVera Party Center brought everyone together for an evening of food, laughter, conversation and eventually some serious dancing. When the Cleveland Keys took over, the dance floor didn't exactly struggle to find participants. The energy kept building throughout the evening, with friends and family filling the dance floor and creating the kind of reception photographs that are impossible to manufacture. Big smiles, enthusiastic dance moves, people letting loose and plenty of moments that Jessica and Erik will hopefully laugh about for years to come. It was one of those receptions where you could feel how much everyone genuinely wanted to celebrate this couple.
Looking back at Jessica and Erik's wedding, what stands out most isn't one particular decoration, portrait or planned moment. It's the people. The family members who have watched them grow. The friends who have shared their lives. The people who traveled to be there. The people who laughed with them, cried with them, hugged them and then danced with them until the night was over. That's what makes a wedding day so meaningful. That's what I love about wedding photography.
Yes, I want to create beautiful portraits. Yes, I want to photograph the big moments. But I also want to notice the little things happening all around them — the expressions, relationships, reactions and completely unscripted moments that make every wedding unique. Jessica and Erik's Greater Cleveland wedding had plenty of all of it.
